Spinoff's "FTA" project revealed; novels' 4th
volume to ship on August 20
This year's eleventh issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype Ace magazine revealed on Tuesday that a new "FTA" project related to the Full Metal Panic! Another novel series is in development. The magazine also announced that the novel series' fourth volume will ship in Japan on August 20.
Based on Shoji Gatoh's Full Metal Panic! light novel
series, the Full Metal Panic! Another spinoff novel series debuted in August
2011. The story is set over a decade after the story in the original Full Metal
Panic! light novels, and it centers around a boy whose destiny is changed after
an encounter with a D.O.M.S. Arm Slave robot operator named Adelina.
The Full Metal Panic! Another novels already inspired a
manga adaptation that began serializing in Newtype Ace in October 2011. The
series' second compiled volume will ship in Japan on August 10.
In June 2010, the North American publisher Tokyopop
revealed its plans to publish the fourth and fifth volumes of the original Full
Metal Panic! novel series in 2011. Tokyopop shipped the two volumes in one book
in February 2011 before announcing that it will close its North American
publishing operations in May 2011. Full Metal Panic! centers around a mercenary
group called Mithril on a parallel Earth in which the Cold War did not end in
1991. The final main volumes in the original novel series shipped in Japan in
summer 2010.
